crash bang wallop... Sid Is In Love Part 1

By Joy56

Wednesday was Sid's day off, he worked very hard all week, and looked forward to being at home..... that was until the Go Lightly's moved in upstairs.

Sid was a natural at writing...... he was eleven when he had his first little story published in the Beano. He has it framed on the wall, some forty two years later, and he will get something else published, Hattie was sure of that. His constant companion, his lover, the woman of his dreams. She had been on the ale the night before, and was snoring, so he took his laptop downstairs and tried to settle down to serious stuff.

He had a photo in front of him, of Hattie in her prime. My word, those legs, he remembered them. His creative writing teacher told him to write about what you know. He sure knew Hattie. He started to write his little ditty.... having modern technology was great, he was never the best speller in the class, but now he had spell check.. Spell check had liberated him in a way nothing else had, except his torch. Life changed a little when his mum bought him a torch...... but not really like spell check....

The Love Of My Life

There the poem was started, should he put Hattie in brackets afterwards, or would it embarras her. He would think about that.

Darling i adore you,

I love you through and through,

I could never live a moment,

If it wasn't for the love of you...........

Then it began. The banging from upstairs. The Go Lightly's were at it again. Sid's tiny frame, flinched with every crash, bang and wallop, and more importantly, he could not concentrate on his love poem. Sid would not usually be so bold, but it was his class this afternoon, and he wanted to finish his masterpiece. He was quite a lover if the truth be known, so he felt his words would surely impress the others at the class. It was kind of his hidden talent, .... or it had been but now he was about to come out.......

Sid knocked loudly on the yellow door, of the flat above him.

"I'm con cen trating, on my poetry." he told the Go Llghtly's....." I need a bit of hush."

The whole family came to do the door. They just looked like mother bear, baby bear and daddy bear, he felt a little like Goldilocks.

"Poetry" boomed, daddy bear, laughing. "He's writing poetry," he nodded to mummy bear.

"So you felt the need to climb the stairs to tell us, we don't like poetry."

"I just need to ask, " he said sheepishly. "Could you keep the volume down a litttle, you are a noisy family, and we have been used to peace here in this little cul- de- sac.

"you think that is noisy?" questioned the child. He looked like a thug, and although he was only about nine, poor Sid felt quite threatened by him.

"Just one hour, is all i need, one hour, i need to get the creative juices flowing, the noise from up here, is really affecting, my creativity."

Sid could not imagine that there could be anyone in the world, that did not respect a poet, and he surely was becoming one, maybe he could have this family evicted.

He climbed back down the stairs. Carrying on with his words of endearment for Hattie.

You wrote to me in prison,

I saved all your notes,

smothered in perfume,

they smelt like a rose.

Sid, sat back with admiration. He had silenced the Go Lightly's ...... he had wrote a wonderful line about Hattie. Roses are always mentioned by poets, he surely was heading for high places with this one.

"Where did you put my teeth, Sid".... Hattie had stopped snoring now, she never looked her best on waking up, he expected her to be asleep, and to get a little inspiration for his poem. Instead he handed her the cup with the rose on. "I scrubbed all that nasty nicotine off for you Hat, they look as good as new,"

to be continued
